LeBron James’ injury update: a groin strain causes the Lakers star to leave the game against the Celtics

The Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the Boston Celtics, their longtime adversary, on Saturday night is suddenly the least of their worries.

Now, everyone is focused on LeBron James’s health.

With little over six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the NBA’s all-time top scorer was seen on ABC’s broadcast making his way to the locker room before being ruled out due to a strained groin. 111-101 was the Lakers’ defeat in the game. James played 35 minutes and finished the game with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists.

He said the injury happened during the play in which he made his game-winning basket at 7:05 p.m.

Since joining the Lakers in 2018, James has faced numerous injuries, but groin strains have been a recurring problem while he has been in Los Angeles. In a victory over the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day 2018, he strained his left groin, which ultimately ended up ruining Los Angeles’ season. Los Angeles went 5-12 without him as their dreams of making the playoffs vanished, and he missed 17 consecutive games, then a career-high. The last six games of that season were missed by him.

James has suffered from left ankle and foot issues in the past, but he has been largely healthy this season, missing just four games as of Saturday.

What we know about LeBron James’ groin injury According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, it’s “too early to project an accurate timetable for how long LeBron James could miss.” He did, however, add that the “initial thought is that it will sideline James for a matter of weeks, not a matter of days.”

April 15 marks the commencement of the NBA play-in games, while April 19 marks the start of the first round of the playoffs.

Following the game, James stated that he didn’t have “much concern” about the injury and that he was “day-to-day.”

James claimed that the injuries from 2018 came to mind right away.

“I’ve been there before and I know what type of injury you’re dealing with,” James replied.

He did, however, add that this injury is “not as bad as that” one that prevented him from playing for 17 games in a row.

After losing on Saturday, the Lakers (40-22) have been playing well since the middle of January and are now 12-3 since signing Luka Doncic. They are now one and a half games ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies and one and a half games behind the Denver Nuggets as the third seed in the Western Conference.
