Will the Stevensons and Harrigans ruin both themselves and London? The focus of “Mobland” is on rival crime groups. A fixer with connections to both, Harry Da Souza, is torn between these two perilous groups. Not only must the crafty figure survive, but they must emerge victorious. Guy Ritchie, the filmmaker of “The Gentleman,” is also the director of the first episode of the Paramount+ series.
The ensemble cast of “Mobland” is all-star. Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan, Helen Mirren, and Emily Barber are among the well-known actors who starred in the series. Mirren already has a significant role on Paramount+ as the star of the show “1923.” The streaming service has seen success with the “Yellowstone” spin-off.
Naturally, “MobLand” began as “The Donovans,” a spin-off origin story to the Showtime series “Ray Donovan.” However, the creative team, headed by showrunner Ronan Bennett (Peacock’s “The Day Of The Jackal”), changed course and decided to sever the connection completely somewhere in the development process prior to filming.
The official synopsis of the series:
As two rival London criminal families, the Harrigans and the Stevensons, engage in a kill-or-be-killed struggle that has the potential to destroy empires and destroy lives, power is at stake. Harry Da Souza, the streetwise “fixer” who is as dangerous as he is attractive and who is all too aware of who is loyal when opposing forces clash, is caught in the crossfire. Lines will be crossed as kingdoms clash, and the only thing that may save them is a life-or-death promise: put your family first.
